60 days closer to Liana

Today is day 60 of our LOA wait so you know what that means...time to celebrate!  We are 60 days closer to getting our girl so tonight we had another little "party".  We had Chinese food (of course) and watched Mulan.  Okay, kind of a pathetic little party but it worked for us.

Ethan was not happy about taking a picture.  Haha!

We got one smile anyways. (Excuse his hair)

Look at that middle picture again.  Would you take them to China?  Hmm...Ella looks like a possibility but Ethan...you've got to be kidding, right?  I guess we're crazy because we just received their passports in the mail today.  We think it would be such a wonderful opportunity for the kids to be with us when we get Liana.  During our home study interview, I was nervous when our social worker asked us if we would be taking them because I thought that she would try to talk us out of it.  Surprisingly, she thought it would be great for the kids to see where Liana came from and for Liana to have them on the trip.  Let's face it, two overly excited, white adults who sound and look completely foreign are probably a pretty scary thing to face, especially when they're taking you from everything you've ever known.  Having Ella and Ethan around will hopefully make Liana feel more comfortable and watching them relate to us will help her to trust us and see that we're not so scary after all.  I'm really nervous about taking our first two cuties on our trip to get our third cutie but we feel like it's what's best for us.  My thinking is that we may regret it at times while we're on the trip but we'll always be glad that they've had that experience, to see the birthplace of their sister.  Not that it's set in stone.  Until we've bought our tickets, I reserve the right to change my mind. ;-)

  2. I completely agree that it may make the trip a little tougher at times, but you'll gain memories that you can share as a family forever. I think you're making a great decision going as a family. Can't wait to see my new "legs".
